How do we make nouns plural ?

 1 - The most common way to make the names in plural is by adding  “ s “

الطريقة الاكثر شيوعا لجعل الاسماء في صيغة الجمع هي عبر اضافة s 

Examples

Cat       cats

Door     doors

Bag      bags

2 – when the noun ends with consonant  + y , we  replace  “ y “  with  “ ies “

عندما ينتهي الاسم  بحرف صامت و الحرف y , فاننا نقوم باستبدال الحرف y  بالحروف ies   

Examples

Family       families

Sky            skies

Baby          babies

3 -   when the noun ends with vowel  + y , we just add “ s “

عندما ينتهي الاسم بحرف صوتي يتبعه الحرف y , فاننا نقوم باضافة الحرف s فقط 

Examples

Boy      boys

Holyday     holydays

Key         keys

4 – when the nouns end with consonant + o , we add “ es “

عندما ينتهي الاسم بحرف صامت متبوعا بالحرف o , فاننا نضيف es

Examples

Mosquito         mosquitoes

Echo                  echoes

5 -  when the nouns end with vowel + o , we just add “ s “

عندما ينتهي الاسم بحرف صوتي متبوعا ب الحرف o , فاننا فقط نضيف s

6 – when the noun ends with ,  s , sh , ch , x , z . we add “ es “

عندما ينتهي الاسم ب احد الاحرف التالية   s , sh, ch, x, z  فاننا نضيف es

Kiss           kisses

Wish         wishes

Match        matches

Box             boxes 

Topaz         topazes

7 – when the noun ends with  f / fe  ,  we replace  it with “ ves “

عندما ينتهي الاسم ب f او fe , فاننا نستبدلهما ب ves 

Examples

Life          lives

Leaf        leaves

Thief       thieves 

Wife       wives

8 – in tha case of “ reef “ and words like it , we just add “ s “

في حالة كلمة reef و الكلمات التي تشابهها فاننا فقط نضيف s

Examples

Reef         reefs

Chief        chiefs

Belief        beliefs

9 – when the nouns end with “ is “ , we change it to “ es “

عندما ينتهي الاسم ب is ,  فاننا نستبدلهما ب es

10 – some nouns don’t follow any rules such as

بعض الاسماء لا تتبع اي قاعدة في الجمع

11 – there are some nouns in English they are the same in singular and plural

بعض الاسماء في الانكليزية هي نفسها في حالة الجمع والمفرد

Nouns name things.

  الاسماء و الاشياء

 As well as naming things we can see,
فضلا عن تسمية الاشياء التي يمكننا ان نراها

such as people and places, nouns also name things we can't see, such as emotions.

 مثل الناس و الاماكن فان الاسماء ايضا تسمي الاشياء التي لا يمكننا رؤيتها مثل المشاعر

nouns' kinds :

انواع الاسماء :

Common nouns :  are used for general classes of people , places or things.

الاسماء الشائعة : تستخدم للمجموعات العامة من البشر او الاماكن او الاشياء

Examples : cat , face , wind, storm,  collar

امثلة : قطة , وجه, ريح , عاصفة, قلادة

Proper nouns : are the names of people , places, organisations, days  , months or titles .

الاسماء الخاصة :اسماء الناس و الاماكن و المنظمات و الايام والاشهر او الالقاب

Examples: Tim winton  , Australia, senator, IMB, Jess

امثلة: تيم وينتون , استراليا , سيناتون , اي ام بي , جيس

Collective nouns : are used for groups of animals ,people or things .

اسماء الوحدة او المجموعة : تستخدم لمجموعات الحيوانات او البشر او الاشياء

Examples : herd, coven, orchestra, tribe, flock

امثلة: سرب, تجمع سحرة , اركسترا , قبيلة, قطيع

Abstract nouns : describe qualities or states of being and name feelings, concepts and ideas.

الاسماء النظرية : تشرح النوعية , او حالة الوجود, وتسمي المشاعر و المفاهيم و الافكار

Example : love, honour, happiness, serenity, courage

امثلة : حب , شرف, سعادة , سكون , شجاعة

 Nouns  الاسماء

Nouns are naming words.

 الاسماء هي كلمات تسمية و وسم

 They are words that give us the names for all the things that we come into contact with in our lives.

 انها الكلمات التي تعطينا الاسماء لكل الاشياء التي نحن على اتصال معها في حياتنا

 Without them we would not be able to tell the difference between a chair and a couch or hockey and soccer! 

 بدونها سوف لن نكون قادرين على ان نخبر ما هو الفرق بين كرسي و اريكة و بين الهوكي وكرة القدم

The more you know about nouns the clearer your communication will be. 

كلما عرفة  اكثر حول الاسماء كلما استطعت التواصل بشكل اوضح 

Nouns identify people, places and things.

الاسماء تحدد الاشخاص و الاماكن والاشياء
